FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will a Matte Black shower finish peel or fade over time with daily use?
This is a common concern with black fixtures, but the answer lies in the quality of the application. At Haddon, our matte black showers are finished using an advanced electroplating process rather than a simple powder coating or spray paint. This creates a much more durable, integrated bond with the underlying brass, making it highly resistant to peeling, flaking, or fading. When looked after correctly, this robust finish will maintain its deep, velvety charcoal-black appearance and smooth tactile feel for years, even in the high-humidity environment of a busy British family bathroom.
Is it difficult to keep a Matte Black shower free from limescale and water spots?
While it’s true that white limescale can be more visible against a dark background, our matte black finish is actually very practical for daily life. The flat, non-reflective surface is excellent at hiding fingerprints and oily smudges that would stand out on a polished chrome shower. To keep it looking its best, we simply recommend a quick wipe-dry with a soft microfiber cloth after your shower. This prevents water droplets from sitting on the surface and drying into mineral spots. Because our finish is so smooth, most residue simply glides off with minimal effort, keeping that crisp, high-contrast look sharp.
How do I choose the right colour palette to match my Matte Black shower?
Matte Black is essentially the neutral of the modern bathroom world. It goes with almost everything! For a high-impact, monochrome look, it looks stunning against white marble or classic subway tiles. If you’re after something warmer and more organic modern, try pairing it with our travertine basins and Pietra marble; the black acts as a sharp anchor that defines the space. It also works brilliantly with bold colours like forest green or navy blue. It’s an incredibly versatile choice that adds an instant architectural edge to your home, regardless of whether your style is industrial, minimalist, or traditional.
